Enchanté Bridal, Mac Duggal & Profoto B1
There has been a lot of buzz when Profoto announced the revolutionary B1 system.
A studio head packed with not less than 500 Ws, with a built in battery and above all offering true TTL flash metering (for Canon). It is without saying that for a flash shooter as yours truly, I could not resist to check this baby out.
I drove to Sydney to the official Profoto dealer to try them out.
The system is surely impressive but as a “wide-open-flash-shooter” I was hungry for an additional feature on the B1: high speed sync.
It is said that it could be just a firmware update feature and Profoto would be working on it.
Fast forward a couple months.. A friend fellow photographer, and a Profoto shooter, has put his hands on one of those Profoto B1 and planned to stop by little Canberra for a play on his way home.
There was not more valid excuse for me to throw an mid week casting on FB and take a day off from whatever I was doing for a shoot.
I packed my own Profoto Acute B2 AirS with a couple of Mola beauty dishes.
I would normally use my micro four thirds system for my shoots but to play with the B1, I also packed my Canon 5D Mark III with a pair of glasses. The Canon EF 24-105 f/4 and the 70-200 f/2.8 L II IS USM.
I also packed my OMDs and my Hasselblad H4D40. We didn’t end up using the Blad.
Here are some images from the shoot and you’ll noticed that at some points, I was bombed .. :O
