Goolabri. The photographers’ playground
Goolabri is only a few minutes outside Canberra yet it gives you the feeling of complete escape when you first visit the resort.
I discovered Goolabri a couple years ago when shooting a wedding. Goolabri was a golf resort, offering a full 18 wholes golf course and short to long term accomodation.
As mentioned above, only a few minutes away form the busy life of the city, you can have your own piece of country side away from the stress of the busy ran area.
Goolabri resort is a family business run by two brothers, Ben and Dan.
After a couple years running the resort, the restaurant, the golf, they thought they would rather focus on a few main activities to offer unforgettable experiences to their guests.
Ben and Dan have closed down the golf course, which required a lot of maintenance and manpower, to mainly focus on the hospitality side of the business.
They have revamped the restaurant areas where they offer complete services for special events such as weddings. They event have a Chapel and a venue able to host live concerts.
They have also open the Iron Bar which has become quite popular and a regular meeting place for people in the area and coming from Canberra.
While the golf activities have been stopped, the facilities continue to be maintained.
Goolabri has become one of my favourite destinations for outdoor photo shoots.
If you need an (massive) open environment for a shoot Goolabri is definitely the place to check out. The location offers a lake, and old rusted truck, open space, greens, wild life, and even kangaroos come and relax in the background to give you that unique look in your photos.
Make sure you talk Ben and Dan if you plan for an outdoor shoot.
You can get in touch with them visiting their website: www.goolabri.com.au
Here are some images I took of the site from my last photo shoot.
