Once in a while, something comes along, and things start making more sense.
I have been a mirrorless user for a while now, starting with micro four thirds cameras, Olympus and Panasonic, to the Fuji Xt series, and also with Sony a7 and Leica M cameras.
The main reason for me to go mirrorless was mainly the size (more or less the weight). It is so easy to pack one or two mirrorless bodies with a selection of 3 or 4 lenses, in a bog that would only carry one SLR body with one lens.
I have been using so Olympus and Sony a7 cameras for all sort of assignments, on location and studio, anytime of the day, using ambient of flash.
The Sony a7 series is so good I actually have the a7, a7r, a7s, a7 Mark II and a7r Mark II.. Lenses are mainly Leica M lenses using Metabone adapters.
Rather than climbing the Mark numbers, Sony has just released a new camera, designed from the ground up, with the pluses from the a7 series and without the minuses.
A new sensor with all sort of new goodies.
The layout of buttons has been vastly improved and locations are more natural to access (video recording button).
One particular dedicated button that I find useless is the exposure compensation dial. Especially when there are the front and rear dials that could be set to do this.
Anyway, it’s just my personal preference.
