We are Found
There are people you cross path at some stage in your career and then life goes on.
There are people, when you look back, have gone a long way.
Daniella, or should I say Deejay, is one of those who pursue their passion to continuously grow from a hobby to an established brand.
Deeajy is a planner, hard worker and pays close attention to details. The last time we worked together, she woke up at 5am to finish sewing the last piece for the shoot the same day.
This woman knows what she wants and put the hard work into it. Once is not an exception, find out more about who is behind the brand: We Are Found.
Make sure you also check out, and follow, her work on Instagram at @wearefoundAU
1.Who are you?
Hello, I am Deejay from We Are Found. I am a fashion stylist, photographer, communication specialist, designer and a fashion blogger. I have a background in Communications specialising in public relations and am a hyper creative who loves to create and inspire others.
2. How did you become a (fashion/portrait/commercial/wedding/sport…) photographer?
I began styling as an extension of the clothing store and online boutique that I used to own. Through that I met amazing creative people and expanded my skills and networks from there. I ended up studying at the Australian style institute in Melbourne, and now style freelance and also work as a stylist for Westfield Belconnen. I am currently designing denim jackets and am in prototype phase of a gym range.
My photography adventures have actually only begun towards the end of last year and I am loving it. My work can be seen on my instagram page @wearefoundau
3.What inspires you?
For me inspiration is everywhere. Firstly I have many creative mentors as friends who push and inspire me on a daily basis. I am also a visual person thus love platforms like Instagram and Pinterest for a daily dose of inspo.
4. What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learnt either from a teacher/mentor or by the hard way?
The best lesson I have learnt the hard way through my own experience is letting go of fear and the self doubt that has plagued me over the years. Once you start doing that you can begin unlocking your true potential and it is amazing what follows.
5. Who would be the photographer (make up artist / Hair stylist / Designer / Model ..) you’d like to shoot/work along with? Who would you like to shoot/work with for your next assignment?
Mario Testino is a photographer I would love to style for. His images are stong and provocative very much aligned with my personal asthetics. I think Terry Richardson also fits in this box and would love to style for one of his shoots.
In terms of models I would love to shoots Mariana Di Vai. He is a well known fashion blogger, shooting someone of this calibre would be amazing as I do have a keen interest in men’s street style photography.
6. What’s in your bag?
In my Camera kit I am a Canon girl and can’t pass up the 85mm lens. It is magic! Not the most easiest thing to work with but so worth it.
For my styling kit bull dog clips are the shit. They can work magic if garments are too big or not sitting quite right.
7. What’s your favourite piece of gear / tool / props?
My favourite piece of gear is my portable UE BOOM speaker. I can’t be on set with no tunes. I think it’s important to have fun with your team and just rock it to your favourite jams.
8. What would be your workflow, favourite piece of software / step by step to create a look ? for models your signature move ?
For styling I am a planner. I work with the whole team, MUA, TOG, Hair and model to create a look and feel to suit us all. I look for inspiration online and then source items that fit the mood.
9. Do you have any suggestions for aspiring photographers / make up artist / hair stylist / model ?
Honestly my recommendation is that if you love it do more of it. I have found so much happiness in styling and photography I want every one to feel what I feel.
10. Anything else we should know about you?
I think if people are interested in seeing a creative evolve they should check out my instagram for a no filter look at life @wearefoundau.
