When you fall in love with your clients. They love you back.

Wedding photography, as glamorous as it may sound, is a fair bit of work and the market is more and more competitive.

Our clients become more and more aware of what they want and what to expect for their money. It has become a common practice for couples to send an email and ask for price and compare with the competition.

We, as professional photographers, must remind ourselves that we are not selling TVs where the exact same product is sold in several places, perfoming the exact same functions and features, and where price matching is a marketing argument. We sell a unique product our clients will cherish for years.

Like everything in life, if you put a bit of hard work, and lots of love in what you do, the reward can be truly amazing.

Mother Teresa once said: “Not everyone can achieve big things, but everyone can achieve small things with great love.”

A couple days ago, I got an amazing email from one of my brides and I must admit it took me a couple times of reading and re-reading to really realise how much privileged I’ve been to be part of some people’s lives. I shot Natasha & Maciej’s Wedding at the end of last year.

Here is what Natasha’s email said:

Most people know that when it comes time to planning your wedding you want everything to run smoothly and to perfection; but maybe more importantly, you want to capture every essence of your day so that you can have ever-lasting memories – This was one of our major concerns, finding someone that we could trust to do such a responsible job for us.

I first met Thierry, from Nomad Photography, at the Bridal Diary Expo in 2012 and instantly fell in love with his work. There was no doubt, after having a look at the other photographers’ presentations that by far Thierry’s was the best of the best.

The quality looked very professional and he has a unique way of setting the scene and capturing a moment; just having a chat to Thierry confirmed that he would definitely listen to our needs and aim to please. 

The problem was we hadn’t budgeted enough for what seemed at the time a bit of a steep price to pay to hire a photographer so we kept looking at some of the other competitors and found several that were within our price range. However, once you’ve seen the best, and you know they are the right person for the job, you can’t ignore the facts.

Nomad Photography kept popping up in our conversations so after playing around with our budget to accommodate for a little extra cost and without further hesitation we contacted Thierry and booked ourselves in.

Looking back on our day, we couldn’t be happier that we signed up with Nomad Photography, it was worth every penny. Thierry was a pleasure to work with, and it was evident that he has a tremendous amount of experience under his belt. He made us feel very relaxed and confident about our choice of photographer.
